Edo State University Uzairue plans new programmes - VC

Edo State University Uzairue is planning to open up new programmes such as Pharmacy and post graduates in other areas to compliment what it already have on ground; the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Emmanuel Aluyor disclosed.

Prof. Engr. Aluyor made the disclosure during the 7th Founder's day ceremony of the University, which held last weekend.

Addressing the gathering at the occasion, he asserts; "Edo State University Uzairue since inception have been committed to the pursuit of world class goals in teaching, learning and research which is why we are proud of our products.

"Some of our graduates have competed and secured funding for post graduate in foreign Universities also, national scholarship awards."

Further, he disclosed that last year some of the lecturers and researchers were listed among the first 500 researchers in Nigeria; while the Nursing and Medical laboratory students recorded 100 percent success in their Council's examinations.

Adding; that the University has been able to graduate her pioneer medical students in a record time of six years, and two weeks.

This set of medical doctors Prof Aluyor informed, will be convocating first week of November later in the year; having taken their MBBS examination and passed with flying colours.

Stating that the Institution's Management is proud of the success recorded in the MBBS examination as one of the flagship programs; the Vice Chancellor  asserts; these makes the University continually stand out among Nigerian public Universities. 

This is as he reiterated that the University has become the first choice among the comity of State Universities, in Nigeria.

"We want to assure the University community that the Institution will continue to maintain the highest standard of delivering quality education; to the students" he emphasized.

Prof. Aluyor went on to commend the State governor, Godwin Obaseki and his deputy, Comr. Philip Shaibu for their continuous support and creating the enabling environment, for the University to thrive.

He particularly thanked the Governor for the upgrade of the general hospital Auchi; to Edo State University Uzairue Teaching Hospital which he noted contributed immensely to the full accreditation of the MBBS programme of the University, by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).

Also, he appreciated the guest lecturer, Gen. Lucky Irabor for accepting to deliver this year's Founder's day lecture of the University titled:  'National Defence Policy And Transitional Justice Approach In The War Against Insurgency In Nigeria' and for finding the time to come down.

"Over the years, we have had the opportunity to invite Nigerians who occupy high positions in the society to speak to the University community; on the achievements and on how they have contributed their quotas to the development of Nigeria and humanity.

"Over the years the lectures have taken us through the paradox inherent in the administration of diverse social political despensation in Nigeria; and how the country can be made a better place".

He pointed out, that the lectures over the years have gradually shaped the outlook of the Universityy Founder's day ceremony, both students and parents; look forward to as a forum where important issues on how Nigeria can be harnessed into a country of our collective dreams are delivered.

These achievements on the Founder's day ceremony were made possible by the State Government which established the University in year 2016; with the mandate to rival every University, Prof Aluyor said.

Adding that it also provided level playing ground for sound scholarship for national development; and these indeed also are the core principles for the Founder's day ceremony.

The Vice Chancellor later  requested the guest lecturer to take a tour of the University saying; that its beauty is not just the architectural masterpiece, but in the content and facilities available for teaching and research.

Prof. Aluyor pointed out that it is possible to get quality education here in Nigeria; instead of going overseas.
