The football governing body in celebration wrote this on its Twitter handle after the Nigeria Flying Eagles trounced their opponent; Tunisia whopping 4 - 0 last Friday, 10 March, 2023. in the Under - 20 African Cup of Nations competition which ended on Saturday, 11 March, in Egypt.
The Ladan Bosso tutored Flying Eagles bounced back from a narrow loss : 1 - 0 to 'The Gambia ' in the semi-final of the competition, and fought gallantly to dispatch the North Africans for the Bronze.
The team began the encounter at the Cairo International Stadium in style, and deservedly took the lead in the ninth minute from an Ibrahim Muhammed strike.
Dominating proceedings in the second half of the game, the West Africans got another goal courtesy of an Ahmed Abdullahi effort, while Jude Sunday made it three just two minutes later in a brilliant solo run.
He thereafter secured his second goal of the day on the dot of time: 90th minute to seal victory for the Flying Eagles.
The team had earlier clinched one of the available tickets to the U-20 World Cup billed to hold in Indonesia; in May this year having played in the semi finals of the competition.
Senegal on Saturday, beat their opponent; "The Gambia' to win gold in the grand finale.
The four teams in the final: Senegal; The Gambia; Nigeria and Tunisia have all qualified for the U-20 World Cup competition billed to hold in Indonesia later this year; in May.
Meanwhile, Flying Eagles winger, Jude Sunday was named Man of the Match in the team’s victory against Tunisia on Friday night.
The 19-year-old was handed his first start of the competition against the North Africans and he responded with a brilliant display.
Sunday dribbled past three defenders to score the Flying Eagles third goal at the 49th minute.
He then scored the fourth with a rasping shot from the inside box a minute from time.
Ibrahim Mohammed and Ahmed Abdullahi were also on target for Ladan Bosso’s side in the game.
