Chief, Osarunmwense Egharevba (Sereba) on Sunday, 28 May, 2023 led his family to celebrate the 30 years departure of their father, Pa. Agbonavbare Egharevba amidst funfare, in the State Capital of Edo.
Chief Egharevba (Sereba); the only surviving son in an interview with our reporter, said it became necessary to lavishly celebrate his father even after 30 years of his absence; as the solid foundation he laid not for him alone, but the entire family has blossomed to heights unimagined.
With emotion laden voice, he described the 30 years physical absence of his father as a dream, asserting that he was a dedicated and loving father, caring not only to him but to as many persons who came in contact with him.
He was indeed a personal friend still sorely missed; Chief Egharevba said, adding he would continue to celebrate him.
While his wife, Mrs. Helen Egharevba commenting, described her father - in - law as very caring who loved her very much to the extent that he would always take side with her, even when wrong.
He would be remembered always for his steadfastness and truthfulness without fear or favour; and very detribalised, She said.
The celebration was kick started with a special thanksgiving service at the Holy Aruosa Cathedral, in Benin City with a large crowd of family members, friends, and associates including yours sincerely in attendance.
The presiding priest: Ohen Osa (God's Priest) Igbinoghodua Edebiri in his sermon titled: 'Patience/Contentment urged all to be patient and satisfied in whatever they do, and wherever they are.
While pouring praises on Chief Egharevba for celebrating his father, Ohen Osa described him as a good example of a patient man whose end was always glorious.
His message also dwelt on the need to practice righteousness in all we do and wherever we find ourselves; as he condemned the act of ungodly practices yet expecting God's presence in one's life.
He noted; the leadership of the Nigeria nation so chastised for all manners of failures, ills, and ungodly acts prevalent in the society, is sometimes not responsible but the citizens: followers.
A lot lies with the insatiable greed, selfishness and lack of fear of God by the people, Ohen Osa stated.
Stressing the need to appreciate God for his faithfulness and blessings always, he reiterated the need to be satisfied waiting patiently for His timing.
Chief Egharevba (Sereba) later in a reception treated his guests to a sumptuous launch of assorted meals and drinks.
The Iyase of Benin Kingdom, Chief Sam Igbe led prominent Palace Chiefs, and other guests to the reception.
