From (L), Peter Enoseregbe Uwadiae Igbinigie Esq. and APC Èdo State Chairman, Col. David Imuse rtrd.

The Nosa Edo Osagie led executive of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Benin branch has been condemned for what is termed; partisan comment by the All Progressives Congress (APC), Edo State Chapter.

The APC said it was with shock it received: "the puerile political vituperation of the Chairman of the NBA, Benin branch during his EXCO visit to Hon. Omosede Igbinedion, former member, House of Representatives, Ovia Federal Constituency, Edo State.

"The statement of the Chairman, Nosa Edo Osagie Esq. is to say the least, callous,  unguarded, uncultured and above all, aimed at undermining the ethos and verve  of the legal profession ably represented by the NBA in Nigeria."

The APC made the condemnation in a press release signed by its spokesperson, Prince Peter Uwadiae Igbinigie Esq. and availed journalists in Benin on Sunday.

The Nosa Edo Osagie led executive recently paid Omosede a solidarity visit in respect of her petition at the Election Petition Tribunal, challenging the victory of Hon. Dennis Idahosa of the APC; member representing the Ovia Federal Constituency, Edo State at the National Assembly.

Osagie assured; the NBA would inaugurate a committee to stand by her, support and offer advice in the on going election petition against Hon. Idahosa at the Tribunal.

Beefed by the statement, the APC made the condemnation through its spokesperson; Igbinigie Esq.

"This most uncivilised display by the Chairman of the reverenced lion BAR demonstrably show the extent of his knowledge of the non political, non cultural,  non religious standard of relationship and the immense posture of the NBA as a body.

"Hence the wide condemnation his statement received from members of the NBA and  the informed general public."

The Party however noted that the "world over,  the legal profession is one of the oldest and most revered professions encapsulated with well articulated norms and tradition aimed at engendering civility,  nobleness, respect which hitherto earned it the accolade; 'the Noble Profession'.

"The APC therefore strongly believes that the Chairman and his cohorts are on a self travel and self serving mission which does not represent the views of the members of the NBA, whom they claim to  represent."

The Party consequently solicits the immediate interrogation and investigation by the NBA  National, of what it termed: "senseless move by its Benin Branch Chairman in order not to undermine the sacred and reverred position accorded the profession by our great Party, the APC and the general public.

"While we wait to hear a more refined and dignified response from the NBA National on this issue,  APC, Edo State salute and commend the golden voices of those who fights to ensure that this present EXCO of the lion BAR does not sell the NBA for a pot of porridge."
