AAU Ekpoma announces immediate resumption of academic activities

Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma has announced the immediate resumption of full academic activities in the Edo State owned ivory tower, with immediate effect, after it was shut down recently due to students unrest.

Otunba Mike Aladenika, Head Communication and Protocol department of the University, made this known on Friday, 29 September, 2023 in a press release availed journalists in Benin.

Aladenika said the University Senate, in an emergency meeting on Thursday, 28th September, 2023 reviewed its earlier directive suspending academic activities; occasioned by students' protest of purported increase in tuition fees.

Recalling, the students in their protest had locked the campus gate; the institution's image maker said the suspension of academic activities was a pre-emptive measure by the Senate to avoid a breakdown of law and order.

As part of its decision at the emergency meeting, the Senate considered and approved a revised academic calendar for the 2022/2023 academic session, he informed.

"The Senate has directed that students return to the halls of residence on Sunday, 1st October, 2023, while lectures are scheduled to commence on Tuesday, 3rd of October, 2023.

"A statement issued by the University's Acting Registrar, Ambrose Odiase enjoined the students to be law abiding upon their return to the campus."
