The Benin Arsenals; Bendel Insurance FC has dispelled the rumour of their player; Benjamin Tanimu's move to Europe that has been in the media space for awhile.

The Club says the player remains a bonafide member of the team adding; that the rumour was misleading.

The 2023 Nigeria Federation Cup Champion made the denial on Wednesday, 6 September,  2023 in a statement signed by its media manager, Khinde Osagiede and availed journalists in Benin, the Edo State Capital.

"Our attention has been drawn to the fake news circulating on social media that our Central defender, Benjamin Tanimu has left us for a Spanish Football Club, Lleida Esportiu.

Putting the record straight, Tanimu has not signed for Club Lleida of Spain as those behind the rumour wants the public to believe, the statement said.

The information is false and misleading, it added.

"We therefore urge football lovers, Bendel Insurance FC fans and the general public to disregard the social media report."

Bendel Insurance FC has not entered transfer contract agreement with any interested club on behalf of the player, it stated.

Though it admitted that several clubs in Europe and Asia: Spain,Turkey, England, Germany, Serbia, Qatar, and Kuwait have indicated interest in the player; one of its best defenders.

"But no club, including Lleida or any other club abroad has officially tabled any deal nor reached any agreement with Bendel Insurance FC in that regard.

"Bendel Insurance management has given Benjamin Tanimu's agent the authority to negotiate his personal terms with interested clubs on its behalf; while the player continues his work on the field with the team. 

"Tanimu's agent is yet to submit any official transfer deal let alone signing any deal.

"Tanimu remains an integral part of Bendel Insurance team and he is in camp with other members of the strong squad preparing for the CAF Confederation Cup match against Renaissance Sportive de Berkane (RS Berkane), on the 16th of this month.

"If any deal comes through for Benjamin, we will make it known to the general public," the statement assured.
