Former Governor of Edo State, and Professor of law, Oserhiemen Osunbor on Tuesday, 26 September, 2023 asserts his compassion for the underprivileged, respect for the traditional rulers and institution are among others, qualities that stands him out ahead of the 2024 Governorship election.
Looking ahead, he promised to distribute projects and appointments equitably, if he emerges Governor of Edo State come 2024.
Osunbor, who was Governor of the State for 18 months made the statement when he paid a courtesy visit to the Benin Monarch HRM Oba Ewuare II in his palace.
He informed the Benin Throne of his intentions to run for the Edo State governorship election come September, 2024 and solicited for his prayers.
"As a first class graduate in law and best student in Nigeria Bar exam in 1976, I was appointed a professor after teaching for eight years. My competence, capacity and energy cannot be questioned.
"I want to say that I have compassion for the underprivileged, respect for traditional rulers and institutions, there will be fair and even distribution of projects and appointments if I win.
"During my administration pensioners were duly paid, contracts evenly distributed, and traditional rulers and institutions were respected."
Responding, HRM Oba Ewuare II, said the former Governor is not a stranger to the palace but emphasised; that the Benin Throne is non partisan.
The royal father however assured, that the Palace will continue to pray for him and his aspiration in good health, adding that he has taken note of his commitment to the development of traditional Institutions.
In his entourage were the representative of Onojie Of Ekpoma, Chief Ezekiel Ainabe
(Ojomo of Ekpoma) who led other chiefs from the Palace of the Onojie.
