...Urge prayers, support

Dr. Legend Asuelimen

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been applauded for the efforts of his administration to positively reposition the Nigeria economy, and many other challenges confronting the nation and her people.

The Director General, All Progressives Congress (APC) Diaspora Council, Dr. Legend Asuelimen made the commendation in a chat with journalists in Benin recently, at the reception organized by the Edo State Chapter of the Party to honour Dr. Mrs. Mary Alile on her appointment as the National Women Leader.

Asked for comments on the steps so far taken by the Tinubu's administration to positively reshape Nigeria, Asuelimen summised that policies made so far, are laudable.

The policies are capable of putting back the country in the right perspective of all round development, that would be beneficial to the people, he argued.

According to him, truly, the President since taking over the reigns of power, has been bold enough to take the required hard decisions to moving forward the Nigeria nation, from its state of quagmire.

"If you ask me; I would say President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is living up to his reputation as an avid pathfinder amidst state of hopelessness, and a certified achiever.

"There is no way a structural changing decisions can be made without affecting certain processes that will bring about tough times; but surely, it is only going to be for a short while, it would certainly fade away with the passing of time and I can take a bet;  the country will be better for it!"

He noted that amongst many others, the Federal Government establishment of the new Ministry of blue economy is a fantastic innovation geared towards resuscitating the ailing Nigeria nation.

That sector of the economy is a green field which holds huge potential waiting to be exploited, he pointed out adding; that putting the right persons in the right places will go a long way to improving the economy.

Dr. Asuelimen who is also the Director of Media and Strategic Communications for APC Committee Diaspora Council, assured that there is light at the end of the dark tunnel.

As he urges Nigerians not to despair but have faith in the 'Renewed Hope' agenda of the Tinubu's administration, to positively reinvent the nation.

Edo 2024 Governorship

On Edo 2024 governorship election, Dr. Asuelimen asserts the APC is the party to beat as the Governor Godwin Obaseki led ruling PDP has not done well; "it has been excuses upon excuses."

For example, the Governor is trying to blame the Federal Government on the very deplorable condition of roads in the State; when he has just less than a year to go, he noted.

"But of course that is obvious fallacy on the part of the Governor. The Federal Government never stopped anyone from fixing its roads; hence other Governors have been fixing Federal roads and getting refunds; his predecessor; Adams Oshiomhole did it and interestingly, the refund was paid to Governor Obaseki.

"I think it is negligence on the part of the Governor not to do that, (fix bad roads) he just deliberately decided not to touch Federal Government roads forgetting that these roads are connected by State roads.

"Even the State roads; apart from the Federal Government roads are all in a mess! No drainage system, nothing seems to be working here, to be frank!

"The APC prospect is very high, this is no gain saying; it is the party to beat and a strong united house, I can assure you."

Commenting on the plethora of aspirants from Edo Central and the effects it could have on the chances of the zone when the chips are down; in his personal opinion he pointed out that for equity, Esan people should be the next to have the Governorship slot.

The DG APC Diaspora Council briefly highlighted what the fora entails in the scheme of things.

The diaspora is a critical constituency; it holds the party and the governance system. In terms of the party, the diaspora in this age of media network actually controls the narrative, Asuelimen asserts.

"When you wake up in the morning, pick up your phone,  you will notice that the most active persons who have already posted an opinion are usually people from the diaspora and whatever have been posted, goes viral quickly.

"In fact, during Obaseki's contest in 2020, the diaspora people helped him big time though, they are regretting it today.

"It should be noted too that some of these diaspora people are progressives, and they are coming back home to the APC; most of them now realized they went on a fruitless journey with the Obaseki's project."

Dr. Asuelimen however expressed confidence in the APC to be able to bring everyone together adding; that the diaspora would be supporting whoever emerge from the Party's fold.

Hence they are looking forward to the leaders to help streamline the process to ensure a good candidate eventually emerge under the APC to do the work.

Canvassing the politics without sentiment going into 2024 Governorship in Edo State, he adviced that in choosing the next governor; it should be based on identifying strong character and proven reliable antecedents, that will ensure the State is taken to the next level of development and growth.

Towards this criterion; the people should think of APC as the only option to move the State forward, Dr. Asuelimen urged.

On the appointment of Dr. Mary Alile as the APC national women Leader, he urges unwavering support for her particularly from the APC, Edo State Chapter.

"The new national women Leader is of strong character, proven antecedents hence she carries the nickname: 'CAPACITY.'

"This is certainly not for nothing; I have absolute confidence in her to effectively galvanize the women folks, not only of the APC but the entire country to help make manifest, the 'Renewed Hope' agenda of the Tinubu's administration."
