Like their counterparts in other climes; teachers in Nigeria have been described as true builders of society as they mark their day globally, on Thursday, 5 October, 2023.
The teachers were this described by Engr. Morrison Eghobamien, a prominent humanitarian and prospective aspirant for the Edo State governorship race in 2024.
Celebrating the society builders, Engr. Eghobamien extends his warm greetings in recognition of their invaluable role in shaping communities and the world.
In an online interview with journalists on Thursday morning, he emphasises teachers are the true architects of our society, without whom our progress would have stagnated at a primitive stage.
As he acknowledged their pivotal contributions to advancements in different spheres of society; agriculture, economics, technology, scientific breakthroughs, and many others.
Engr. Eghobamien also voiced his concern about teachers’ working conditions and remuneration, pointing out that their dedication deserves more recognition.
Despite the challenges they face and the modest rewards they receive, teachers play a pivotal role in shaping the future by imparting knowledge to our youths, he continued.
As part of his commitment to their cause, Engr. Eghobamien pledged to improve teachers’ remuneration, enhance their working conditions, and provide students with a conducive learning environment, if he eventually emerge Governor of Edo State.
He firmly dismissed the notion that the reward for teachers lies solely in heaven, emphasising that they deserve tangible support and appreciation for their tireless efforts in nurturing the future generation.
In his message to teachers in Edo State, Engr. Eghobamien encouraged them to remain hopeful while critically considering their choices in the coming 2024 election.
Urging them to vote wisely, he admonished; the community of teachers in the State should, and must select a leader who will elevate Edo State to new heights, providing teachers and students with the support they need to thrive always.
