Edo: Benin Monarch suspends Duke, appoints elders in Uhogua Village

The Benin Monarch, HRM Oba Ewuare II has slammed indefinite suspension on HRH Osagumwenro Eki Eresoyen, the Enogie (Duke) of Uhogua Village in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State.

HRM Oba Ewuare II, passed a vote of no confidence in Eresoyen after reviewing unceasing allegations of misconduct, dereliction of duty against the embattled Duke by a group of elders of Uhogua.

This was disclosed in a press release signed by 
Osaigbovo Iguobaro, 
Chief Press Secretary to Monarch, and availed journalists in Benin on Thursday.

The Monarch consequently  directed the Ozukpogieva (Second most elderly man) in the Village, Pa. Omonuwa Moses to take charge of affairs, on his behalf, Iguobaro said.

Pa. Omonuwa is to be supported by other elders; Pa. Isaac Osayande; Pa. Samuel Imaruagheru; the third, and fourth in ranking respectively, including Ohen-Ovia (Priest), Pa. Festus Omorefe.

Also, the Okaighele (Head of the youth group) John Ohiegbomwan is to join the appointed elders; they are to administer the Village on his behalf pending the appointment of Odionwere (Village head) in due course the Monarch said, according to the release.

The group of aggrieved elders had sought the intervention of the Monarch to deliver them from their oppressors.

He enjoined them to make peace and be law-abiding in the discharge of their duties for the overall development of the locality in line with Benin customs and tradition, Iguobaro said.
