Edo: Ekowe unveils funeral rites for Village head

The funeral ceremony of Pa. Alfred Aguanomwan Agbontaen, the Odionwere (Village Head) of Ekowe in Ovia North East Local Government area of Edo State has been announced by the family.

According to the funeral arrangement signed by Pa. Amadin Osayande for the family, Thursday,18th January, 2024 at 10 am, the body leaves Hope Mortuary to his residence, 1 Ekowe Village, followed by interment.

While the social dance will take place on the 20th January, 2024, at his residence by 12 noon.

Until his death, Pa. Agbontaen (a.k.a father of children) was the Odionwere (Village Head) of Ekowe; a unifier who would not stop talking about the need for the people to continue to have respect for the custom and tradition of the land, pledging his unalloyed loyalty to His Majesty, Oba Ewuare II.

He would also be remembered for always emphasising the need for the people to join the Oba in the preservation, and promotion of the rich cultural heritage of Benin.

The late Odionwere who lived a fulfilled life before passing after a brief illness is survived by many children, grand children and family members.
