The elected leader of the legislative arm of Owan West Local Government Council, Hon. Saturday Ohimai Ezomon has on behalf of the other eight members clarified the crisis between the councilors and Chairman, Hon. Dickson Ahonsi over the removal of the female legislative head, Joy Ohonyon.
Hon. Ezomon made the clarification while speaking to the press on the actual situation between the legislative and the Chairman of the Council.
He pointed out, that the removal of the former leader of the House, Hon. Joy Ohonyon was based on her incompetence which had not allowed for meaningful development in the local Government hence the petition, which was signed by nine members of the House against one.
He also disclosed; that the members moved a motion that bushes have taken over major roads within the local Government and that there was the urgent need for the Chairman to do the needful; clear the grasses from the road sides for easy visibility but he ignored it saying there was no money.
Also, they moved another motion regarding the earth roads in the local Government areas which are seriously in a bad state and difficult to ply by motorists, as a result of erosion caused by the rains.
But the Chairman as usual said that there was no money; a slogan we are now used to.
Hon. Ezomon wondered if other Chairmen in their various Councils could be executing people oriented projects, "I do not know why Owan West will be an exception."
He alleged that the Chairman is trying to coarse members of the Legislative using some political leaders to divert attention from the issues on ground.
He has also gone to the extent of using community Chiefs and heads of clans to coarse the members of the legislative arm in the local Government area, Hon. Ezomon added.
"For the Council Chairman, Hon. Dickson Ahonsi to insist that the incompetent leader who was impeached be reinstated back means he does not have the interest of the people at heart; but only interested in his personal interest," he noted.
Hon. Ezomon however alleged since the impeachment took place, they have been seriously threatened by the Chairman.
He boasts that the legislative arm will not sit until the impeached leader of the House is reinstated.
However, all efforts to get to the Chairman of the Council Hon. Dickson Ahonsi to respond to the allegations was not successful as at the time of filling in this report.
