Members of the State working Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Edo State have passed a vote of implicit confidence in its principal officers; the acting State Chairman, Jarrett Tenebe, State Secretary, Lawrence Okah, and State Publicity Secretary, Prince Peter Enosoregbe Uwadiae Igbinigie Esq.

The members reaffirmed their trust in the leadership of the principal officers at a meeting held on Tuesday, 20 February, 2024 in Benin-City.

This was made known to the media in the State Capital, in a press release signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Prince Peter Enosoregbe Uwadiae Igbinigie Esq.

The vote of confidence was due to the excellent ways they have piloted affairs of the Party particularly at this auspicious time of its political evolution, it was said.

"The SWC has enjoined them not to relent in their efforts in ensuring that justice, equity and fair play which is the hallmark of our great Party is robustly upheld at all times; regardless of any undue pressure from any quarter."

The State Working Committee also commended the teeming members of the APC, for their calmness in spite of the alleged unprovoked attacks on them.

As it asserts; "At the end of the day, the peace that we hitherto enjoy in our Party shall be restored."

Similarly, it announced the lifting of the suspension of Chief Francis Inegbineki as the vice chairman of APC , Edo Central Senatorial District.

"Also at the meeting,  the suspension of the Vice Chairman of Edo Central,  Chief Francis Inegbineki was revisited and members agreed that having waited for the local government exco that was directed to invite him for interrogation; and possibly for him to defend himself in line with the principles of justice and nothing was forthcoming from them, the SWC resolved to veto the suspension and reinstated Chief Francis Inegbeniki to his position as the vice chairman of APC , Edo Central Senatorial District."

The APC has been engulfed in acute disagreement tainted with reports of pockets of violence since Saturday, 17 February, 2024 when its Governorship primary election held across the State.

A group of youths led by the State youths leader of the Party; Tony Kabaka on Monday, 19 February, 2024 staged a protest to the Party's State secretariat and ended up destroying office equipment and other items as they found nobody on ground.

The Kabaka led youths accused the SWC of working against the Party's interest ahead of the September 21 Governorship election and are calling for its sack.

This was after thugs suspected to be working for a section of the State APC leadership, and one of the aspirants on Saturday; attacked the Stanley Ugboajah's led national primary election committee, journalists who were covering the event, and others at the results collation centre of the Party; the Lushville Hotel and Suites.

The crowd of thugs who defiled the presence of police security on guard to launch the attack, eventually stopped the on going announcement of results of the primary after unleashing mayhem on anyone in sight.

Out of the eight local Government Areas announced before the thugs' invasion, Monday Okpebholo won six and Dennis Idahosa won two.

But eventually, Idahosa emerged winner of the Party primary from the Governor Hope Uzodinma's led faction of the election committee, at Protea Hotel.

Meanwhile, Okpebholo, Edo Central lawmaker at the upper chamber of the national Assembly, was the winner from the Ugboajah's led faction of the election committee at Lushville Hotel.

This is as Hon. Sunday Dekeri Anamero member House of Representatives, Etsako Federal Constituency also lay claim to the sole governorship ticket of the APC.
