Uyi's daughter allegedly spent 108m Naira on online betting prior to committing suicide

•••Puzzle: should her creditors be Scapegoat for her actions, demise?

From our news desk, Benin

 Lilian Omokhuale

As controversy rages over the suicide of late Lilian Omokhuale a.k.a. Uyi Technical's daughter; reliable evidences revealed that she collected over 500 million Naira from friends and money lenders and also allegedly spent over 108 million naira on gambling.

Some of her cronies who preferred to be anonymous for obvious reasons; alleged she may have been into drugs while some others believed that having run aground the company; 'Thermocool' she was managing, she must have reinjected  part of the borrowed funds into the father's business to prevent any suspicion of fowl play.

But what remains a puzzle to many is how come the very caring father never bothered to look into the books of the company that she was running; and how it went down below expectation for over two years?

40 year old Lilian Omokhuale had on 7th October, 2022 allegedly committed suicide in the Government Reservation Area (GRA), Benin City, prompting the police to commence investigation.

According to reliable inside sources, Lilian may have taken her own life by the ingestion into her own body, obnoxious substance suspected to be snipper.

As Police began investigation to unravel reasons for the suicide, it was revealed that through her four bank accounts; she expended exactly N108, 872, 550 on online betting.

While from the police charged sheet, she was said to be involved in money transactions with her creditors namely; Jessica Iguodala Oghomwem, Engr. Chukwudi Apotowho, Akpes Omorodion, Vincent Uhunmwangho, Joy Noren and Blessing Jatto.

It is interesting to note that contrary to previous malicious publications, her creditors were never arrested but were only invited for interrogation by the Nigerian police.

They are however presently in court for charges of aiding suicide and what was supposed to had been an act of kindness toward the deceased.

An act which made them lend her money, has become a big albatross on their neck!

All records presented by the police showed  that she collected money from people in pretence of business or family distress.

Mrs. Rose Osaigbovo, a relation of one of the accused keeps asking rhetorical questions that begs for answers, following the unfolding mix-up.

According to her, if Uyi Technical loved his first daughter and child so much, how come he did not know that she was so much involved in gambling?

Secondly, Mr. Uyi has vowed to spend billions to fight her lenders; if he had used only a part of this amount to cater for his late daughter, or if he knew she had access to such a huge amount, would she had committed suicide?

According to findings with evidence, Mr. Omoruyi Olotun aka Uyi Technical has paid Thermocool' the debt incurred by her late daughter, Lillian amounting to over N150,000,000 immediately they brought it to his notice after her demise.

Yet surprisingly, Thermocool is not part of those being charged for aiding her suicide.

Commentators are of the view that Mr. Uyi should call his late daughter's creditors (who also are people's children) for some form of negotiations or appeal for settlement; instead of battling them with police and court cases to have them convicted.

Some of the creditors who spoke off camera complained of being trailed severally by security operatives.

Worried about the prevailing situation, they have made a complaint to the force headquarters in Abuja, and interrogations are  presently ongoing, they said.

The poser therefore; is Mr. Francis Omoruyi (Uyi Technical) trying to use the security agencies and the court to avoid paying her late daughter's creditors?

Or should her creditors be Scapegoat for her actions, and demise?

The world patiently waits as the High Court and Federal High court in Benin will be in a position to resolve this on April 30th!
