The Governor Godwin Obaseki led Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) administration has been praised for its efforts to bring the dividends of democracy to the people of Evbotubu Village,  Egor Local Government Council Area of Edo State.

Pa. Evbonaye Edigin, Odionwere of Evbotubu Village speaks on behalf of the people through pastor Felix Enekhizena one of the elders.

He told our reporter that the Governor Obaseki's PDP administration has focused attention on the infrastructural challenges which confront the locality beginning with the holistic revamping of the primary health centre.

"Our health centre has been refurbished to a high standard and fully stocked with the necessary equipment, and material with staff deployed.

"Also, our primary school which was submerged in flooding has been relocated to an upland.

"The Government through the Commissioner for education Joan Oviawe and the Local Government Council Chairman, Eghe Ogbemudia requested land in another location for the rebuilding of the school which was quickly granted."

A portion of land measuring 30O × 315 feet was given by the Odionwere on behalf of the people of Evbotubu and the Government has built a block of ten classrooms, adequately fenced with a borehole sunk for the provision of water, he disclosed.

Also, another six classrooms block has recently been added equipped with table and chairs for the school children, by the Obaseki's administration.

In the same vein, following the outcry of Evbotubu people about the absence of motorable roads in the area, the Government has approved some major ones for reconstruction, Odionwere Edigin said.

As we speak, men and material have been moved to site and hopefully the situation will be salvaged soon.

In fact, the major challenge in Evbotubu is the absence of good roads, he said.

"So, we want to appeal that the Obaseki's administration benevolence towards us, should be extended to doing a holistic work on roads in Evbotubu.

"We need the major road which runs from Owena straight to the market, down to the Evbotubu Village proper and the primary school should be given prime attention. We need a road to the health centre too so that the perennial flooding in the area can be tackled and removed."

Evbotubu had all the while been a peaceful Village in Benin Kingdom until recently, Ago-Isibor and Okhiaro camps decided to plot a pull out claiming to be autonomous Villages respectively, he continued.

When they first declared their intention, we told them that their request was an impossibility and that it was only on the authority and pronouncement of the Monarch HRM Oba Ewuare II it could happen.

But they would not listen and it finally got to the notice of the Oba who authorized a statement from the Benin Palace saying both Ago-Isibor and Okhiaro remain camps under the jurisdiction of Evbotubu Village adding that nothing like Ohen or Odionwere there as leadership heads.

Instead of obeying the Monarch's resolution, they have taken us to court, Odionwere stated.

The Okaighele (Youth Head) of Evbotubu Village, Odion Orumwensee corroborated the assertions of the Odionwere.

As the people expressed gratitude for all the Obaseki's administration have done for them particularly the rehabilitated primary school and health centre; and "not forgetting approval of the reconstruction of some roads in the area," they added.
