The All Progressives Congress (APC), Edo State have inaugurated a 36 directorates strong Campaign Council for the September Governorship election in Benin, weekend.

Former State governor and national Chairman of the Party, Senator Adams Oshiomhole is the Chairman and Senator Mathew Urhoghide is the director - general.

For all the directorates which includes; Operations, Administration, Mobilization, Media, Publicity, Inter - party relations amongst others were appointed deputy - directors who are political big wigs in their own right.

Rt. Hon. Akpatason, Mike Onolemenmen amongst others are deputy - directors while for the three Senatorial districts were appointed coordinators; Lucky Imasuen - Edo-South, Orbi Okojie for Edo-Central and Abu Lawani as coordinator for Edo-North.

For the directorate of Contacts, Hon. Samson Osagie is the director while Gani Audu and Efe Stewart were appointed as deputy-directors.

Inaugurating the Campaign Council, Oshiomhole said he was of the unwavering faith that it would be able to deliver the Senator Monday Okpebholo/Dennis Idahosa ticket, with the leadership of Senator Urhoghide.

"With him as the D-G, everything will fall in place! He has the experience, he knows the people, he knows the terrain and above all; he is familiar with the challenges that we face!"

Emphasizing that all members and supporters of the Party are members of the Campaign Council, Oshiomhole urged a 'neighbour to neighbour' campaign strategy to win the election. "It is an operation win your ward!

"Every member and supporter of APC who has been victim of flooding and erosion, and whose child is sitting on the floor in school to take lecture somewhere in Edo State is expected to be part of the campaign for a genuine change, under the leadership of Monday Okpebholo."

Charging every member to work hard for the Party victory, he stated; "it is operation win your unit!

"We want to win this election democratically, no magomago, no wuruwuru, no violence!

"We campaign for peaceful change of government; that is what democracy is all about!"

State Chairman of the Party, Jarrett Tenebe addressing the gathering spoke in the same vein.

He noted that in his personal opinion, only three governors had done well in the history of Edo; Samuel Osaigbovo Ogbemudia, Prof. Foluronsho Ambrose Alli, and Adams Eric Oshiomhole.

"Some years ago somebody was elected as governor of this State and it was going to be a continuation of where our great leader; Adams Oshiomhole stopped.

"But today, we are experiencing hardship, we are experiencing misgovernment, we are experiencing floods all over. We expected that the government would continue from where it stopped, but today, where are the red roofs?

"They are nowhere to be found, today, Benin is flooded, Edo is flooded but we know that the government was supposed to continue from where the government of Oshiomhole stopped."

Tenebe assured that with the guidance of Oshiomhole who succeeded in eight years as governor, the APC candidates for the September Governorship election would surely do it right when they win, with the hard work of the Campaign Council.

"We believe that the government that is going to come, will be one of the people,  by the people and for the people."

He added that it will continue all the good works of the Oshiomhole era, and even improve on it.

As he expressed the hope that the Campaign Council ably led by Senator Urhoghide, will not fail in the set mandate.

Meanwhile Senator Urhoghide in his acceptance speech has noted; "the task is huge, the task is tough" pointing out that everyone in the Party has a job to do.

"We have a huge task to unseat an incumbent government, we are fighting a Party that is in government, we are fighting a replacement that the Governor wants to impose on the people, a government and a governor that has not performed well, we need to work hard."

Urhoghide appeals for cooperation and unity of all Party members in the drive for the set agenda urging; "we must all work together!"

Urhoghide reiterated that it was not going to be a tea party in the attempt to dislodge the Governor Godwin Obaseki led Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) administration from the Osadebay Avenue.

He however promised; "we are going to do our best to deliver our candidates and we expect the fullest cooperation from everyone including our  candidates."
