Benin Monarch, HRM Oba Ewuare II

The Benin Monarch HRM Oba Ewuare II has joined numerous appeals; for organisers to back down on the proposed nationwide protest against the pervading economic hardship across the Nigeria nation.

The protest billed to hold simultaneously across the nation on the 1st of August, 2024 organisers say; is to awaken the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu All Progressives Congress (APC) Federal Government, from its seeming slumber to the poor condition of living of citizens amidst strangulating hardship, occasioned by the non functioning economy.

The Monarch made the appeal arising from the emergency meeting of the National Executive Committee of the National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria (NCTRN) held in Abuja, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Monday, 22 July, 2024.

This was made known in a press release dated 24 July, 2024, and signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Oba, Osaigbovo Iguobaro and availed the media in Benin.

"Oba Ewuare II appeals to the general public to give the Federal Government enough time to implement its economic policies that will alleviate the present hardship being experienced by Nigerians.

"For things to get better, it has to be rough for a while."

The Monarch therefore appeals to those planning the August 1st nationwide protest to shelve the plan, it was stated.

As he also appeals to the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Federal Government of the APC  to intensify efforts; in the implementation of its economic and security policies.
