Edo Governorship 2024: State H/A Speaker Agbebaku ignores his Party, PDP agitation, decision

EDHA Speaker, Hon. Blessing Agbebaku 

Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Blessing Agbebaku, has congratulated the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidates; Senator Monday Okpebholo and his deputy, Hon. Dennis Idahosa on their victory in the September 21, 2024 Governorship election in Edo.

Agbebaku congratulated the Governor-elect and his Party during plenary on Wednesday, 2 October praying that he should not be misled by sycophants.

“The governor-elect is for Edo people and not for the All Progressives Congress alone; and I prayed that sycophants do not mislead him.

But contrarily, the Speaker's Party; PDP and its candidates; Asue Ighodalo and Osarodion Ogie have refused to congratulate Okpebholo and the APC.

They alleged, that the Independence Electoral Commission (INEC) in collusion with the Police rigged the election in favour of the declared winners.

The umpire; INEC declared Okpebholo and his Party; the APC to have scored 291,667 votes to defeat the PDP and its candidate; Ighodalo who were said to have scored 247,274 votes as closest rivals.

Agbebaku a member of the PDP representing Owan West constituency at the State House of Assembly, though was able to deliver his Ward 2, 'Uhomora 'to the PDP, he lost his local Government at the election to the APC.
