Transition of power: After EDSG request, APC inaugurates 24 member Team

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State say it has put together a 24 - man strong 'Transition Team' to interface with the Governor Godwin Obaseki led Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) outgoing administration; towards a smooth handing over of power.

The APC in a widely circulated letter on the social media, dated 14 October, 2024 and signed by the State Chairman, Emperor Jarrett Tenebe made the announcement on Monday.

The Party said the Team was put together in response to the request via the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Joseph Eboigbe.

It should be noted; that in July 2024, Governor Obaseki, had inaugurated a 20-member transition committee presided by Joseph Eboigbe, to deliver a smooth transition of power and knowledge to the next administration.

The APC letter addressed to Governor Obaseki reads:


“I write to acknowledge the receipt of your letter requesting the Governor-Elect, Senator Monday Okpebholo and the All Progressive Congress (APC), to initiate the formation of a transition team to work with your side.

“We however look forward to a smooth and effective collaboration with our 24-member Committee, headed by Chief Pius Odubu as Chairman, for meaningful discussions that will lead to a seamless transition process.

“Attached herewith is the list. Your commitment is highly appreciated.”

The 24 member Team as released by the APC:

Former deputy Governor of the State, Dr. Pius Odubu is to head the Team, and to be supported by Pharm. Matthew Urhoghide, Pastor Osagie Ize-lyamu, Barrister Andrew Adaze Enwanta, Dr. Washington Osifo, Nosa Adams and Omosede Igbinedion.

Also, Paul Ohonbamu, Edo Omorogieva, Ernest Afolabi Umakhihe, Taiwo Akerele, Godwin Eshieshie, Yakson Musa, Kazeem Afegbua, Ohio Omo Ezomo, Gani Audu and Dr. Aminu Imafidon.

Others are Prof Oyaziwo Aluede, Prof. Mrs. Eunice Omonzejie, Matthew Egbadon, Dr.Tony Ikpasaja, Felix Akhabue, Kingsley Ehigiamusor and Dr. Frank Omoh.

The State Government in its letter addressed to the APC earlier assured: "We are committed to providing you with the necessary support and resources to make this transition as effective and efficient as possible."

As it expressed the hope; "Together, we can set the foundation for a successful administration that meets the expectations of our constituents."

Meanwhile, the PDP and its candidate, Asue Ighodalo are already in the Election Petition Tribunal challenging the victory of the APC and Okpebholo as announced by the umpire; Independent Electoral Commission (INEC).
