Edo State Football Association on Wednesday, 29 January, 2025 unveiled the 'Peculiar Ultimate Concern Ltd' as sole sponsor for this year's 'FA Cup' competition.
The unveiling; held alongside the draws for the competition fixtures at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin.
Representative of the sponsor, deacon Kunle Bello addressing the gathering asserts that Peculiar Ultimate Concern Ltd was ever ready to work with all stakeholders, for the development of grassroots football in Edo.
Noting that a lot of untapped talents exist in the State, he called for the harmonisation of synergy to harness them for the growth of the beautiful game.
As Chairman of Edo FA, Fred Newtown Erhunwunsere appreciated the State Government and Chairman, State Sports Commission, Desmond Enabulele for the approval and support to go get a corporate sponsor for the competition.
The sponsor he disclosed, has donated two giant trophies for the male and female teams, individual trophies for outstanding players, and customised medals as rewards, apart from the financial package.
The top team, male; will go home with the sum of N1m, the runners up will get N750,000 and the third ranking team will get N500,000.
For the female, the first position team will be rewarded with the sum of N750,000, the runners up, N500,000 and the third place team will earn N250,000 reward.
Also, jerseys were unveiled for the top four teams; male and female participating in the competition.
As the FA Chairman also asserts that a partner from Lagos 'Prosta'; sponsor of the match balls for the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has donated six balls to be used in the finals.
He named other partners to include; the Edo State Government, Kiko Hotels, and Olivia Waters as the competition's official water.
Saying this year's edition is heavily spiced up, Erhunwunsere disclosed that there are diaspora stakeholders too, who will be donating cash as support.
A total of 30 football teams; 24 male teams and six female teams will be slugging it out for honours in this year's edition of the Edo State Federation Cup (FA Cup).
The female teams for the competition were named as; Edo Queens, Bravo FC, Tiki taka FC, Benin Red Soil FC, Fortress Ladies FC and Brave Hearts Ladies.
For the draws, two female teams; Edo Queens who are the defending champions in the last year's edition and runners up, Fortress Ladies FC were seeded bye.
While for the male, eight teams were seeded; the defending champions in the last year's edition, Bendel Insurance FC, and runners-up, Inneh Stars, Delight FC, semi-finalist in last year's edition, and BJ FC, past Champions of the Edo FA cup.
Others include; Benin Warriors, past champions of the competition, FC Deltra, winners of the NLO Kwale zone, Bendel Insurance feeders team, winner of th Under - 19 NLO and Rolly FC, runners up of the NLO, Kwale zone.
The event was witnessed by football stakeholders, representatives of the participating teams, coaches, and veterans led by Alabi Aisien, Permanent secretary, State Sports Commission, Mrs. Patricia Efeamenze and Head, operations and sports development of the Commission, Mrs. Chikere Sabina, amongst others.
The competition is billed for February 5th to 23rd, 2025 at two designated centres, with the finals to hold at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City.
